Hello All,
When I was employed at Odyssey I worked with Ucy (pronounced u-see) Long, who was the Program Coordinator. He is one of the most incrediable people I know. He has written a book on his life and his time spent as an inmate in Louisiana State Prison at Angola during some of the bloodiest times in that prison’s history. The book is in the process of being published.
Ucy has given of himself to the community. He has through public speaking provided inspiration for the youth of New Orleans and a prison project at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in St Gabriel, Louisiana. His life has always been an open book and he uses it to make a difference. Ucy’s presentations always begin with the statement, “we all have choices in our lives”. He uses choices as a theme for how one bad choice can alter our lives for the rest of our lives. Ucy was given a full pardon by Govenor Mike Foster many years ago. If you have not met him, I recommend you come to the fund raiser and meet this giant of a man, who I admire and respect deeply.
The attached flyer is about a fundraiser for Ucy to support his medical treatment for cancer. I am asking as a friend and one who is committed to our community and the people who contribute and make a difference here for your participation.
• One form of participation is to attend the fund raiser where you will have a good time and make a difference with your dollars.
• Another form of participation where you can make a difference is by giving cash to the fund.
• Still another way you can contribute is by contacting Ucy to see what you can do for him.
I hope to see some of you there.
